“I Am Always Reminded of This”
Feb. 6th, 2007 | 08:52 pm
Winter
And everything is cold
And the mood has become so low
Walking alone on the cold wet snow
My eyes faced down Lost in thought
Suddenly I stop and peer into to the window
And what do I see Just me
Now-
And now I am singing that song again
One that’s been only prolonging
Of things that won’t
Nor will never be
But it all comes back to me
The day I walked out on her
The last time
The last day I would come back to her
Calling my name behind me
From that once beautiful dame
I become deaf
To her constant screeching
We can no longer become one
After all three is too much company
I look to my feet
And step onto the street
She runs up to me
And asks me to never leave
I look into the eyes of the one I never really had
She tries to cry, but it’s only a lie
I don’t give her one last goodbye
And continue down this odd road
Where things never appear as they seem
This ever present dream
Someday I hope it leaves
Now I am just 4 years older
Things have gotten somewhat golder
But when I look into this window
And things have only become clearer
Things have changed on the outside
And so much on the inside
This memory will always be there
But it won’t mean that much anymore.
And everything is cold
And the mood has become so low
Walking alone on the cold wet snow
My eyes faced down Lost in thought
Suddenly I stop and peer into to the window
And what do I see Just me
Now-
And now I am singing that song again

Expect a new story from the same vein as "Sugar Coating with Scars." This will be much darker but with some comedy. Think of it "Sugar Coating with Scars- the college years".
".. Didn't know what to expect next. My mind was slowing down and so was her body as she danced in front of me to The Doors. How I always wanted to see someone so entranced by music and the extasy that he brings. For that one moment I was complete again."

Well this past wednesday I attended a concert at my local club here in syracuse called Club Tundra with my buddy Dan. The bands were as followed. I was expecting any opening bands and I was alittle urked when I looked at the first band's drum. It read: We Are Scientists I was like oh come on I was here to see hot hot heat.... but let me tell you I was pleasently surprised. We Are Scientists are like a Rock thats fused with sorta the old school and the 80's I like it alot. I do recall hearing Reaction. Next up was a band called The Redwalls. Another one sheesh. These guys were dressed funny besides the bassist and drummer. This band was good again. They put on a riveting performance. It was an almighty concert. Hot Hot Heat performed awesomely. I got a few pics. unfortuneatly there from my cell phone so they are all that great.

We came to a stop at the park we all grew up with. One by one we stepped out onto the sandy and gravelly soil. It was refreshing to feel our childhood playground under our feet again. I drew a puff of the cigar that had been burning for awhile and let it drop. Why destroy the feeling of the park more so? I put the front tip of my sole on it and squashed the life out of it. Sly looked at me. I had been feeling a little sad since the end of prom with everything that had happened. Prom was great. No it was excellent. It tasted bittersweet. Same as graduation passed it off with out caring. Now were is my dear? Emi, We called if after a few months. After prom in Sly's backyard alone. She told me she couldn't handle being away from me. She thought it just couldn't work out. I felt the same way. I couldn't hurt her. Love while it lasted. Friendship now. Griffin out of the screen door to see what was up with me and Emily right after we split it. She left with no more word. Griffin just looked at me for a moment, smiled, nodded and whispered understanding. Then slyly put his arm around me then around my neck and put me in a head lock. We tossled a little bit. All of us had become like brothers. Sly, Griffin and I. It urked me. Now Griffin would go off to college and become a history major and then make video games. "He was like oh fuck yeah. I'll tell ya how it should've been. Screw fake emotion. We will make games that accually make you feel." It was artificial after all... but then I read some of his stuff and it did move me. Sly was a different case. He'd go off to be some kind of actor or something he never really told me but he was good at acting. Me? Huh. No money for college. Didn't feel like working. There is only one thing to do, right? After all my life was interesting enough so why not write a book about it and get the money to attend college. This was the omega but we had returned to the alpha. It didn't feel half bad. Sly ran to the swings and yelled, "Fuck yeah. I'm a swinger HOLLA!" He'd get shot one day after saying that to a black guy. That was funny. Some cry about life being to hard. It isn't it's all a joy ride. Theres pot hole but you can handle em. It's a fuckin Joy Ride.

Exactly. Say good bye to the bullshit in your life and embrace the good shit. Who gives a fuck right? I do so betta shut your mouth. Life isn't that bad people so stop whining. Life is supposed to be fun. Especially for the grads of '05 stop crying because it's all "over". It's only the beginning people. We got the whole summer ahead of you. I know some emo dudes and they aren't whining so buck the fuck up. Some of you will be going to HVCC or SCC(sp?) so you will still be close some going to other states hopefully your still close. Some to SUNY and most of em are close. Me? I am going to Le Moyne in Syracuse. It's an awesome place. A ratio of more girls than guys. Hahaha. I'll still see alot of you. Even at reunions. It's time to start with something new you know. College. A new life in away. Reinvent your self. No one knows you right. Be yourself for once.
So I had the spanish Regents last friday and it wasn't bad I hoped I passed though. Multiple choice wasn't that bad it was the writing part I am just allittle afraid but I think i passed. Monday was "practice" for graduation. We sat and watched a movie and Mr. Melia and Mr. Sykles or watever talked to us. Boring as hell. We did that then me and chris checked out speakers for grad party. Old 70's ones broke. Me and chris hung out for the day then we hung out with michele it was fun. Yeah another thing. I finishing Sugar Coating With Scars this summer it will be good.

Sugar Coating With Scars #7: “Claude & The Prom”
Warning: I hope I didn’t harm any gay men in the making of this.
It was 10’o clock in the morning, the day of the prom. I didn’t know what time it was. I ran my hand down my face and just dozed. Suddenly I heard a knock at my window.
I shot up and yelled, “Oh shit!” I looked around and it was morning. A tall blonde guy was standing at my window waving at me. He wore tight jeans. Emily did say one of her friends was coming over to help her get ready. Guess this was he. I looked around and opened the door.
“Um hi.” I said.
“Are you Vinny?” He asked.
“Yes I am. Your Emily’s friend right here to help her get ready?”
“Yes I am Claude Allure. Some people call me Claudette but that’s only when I am naughty.” There was strange about this guy. I raised my eyebrows and started walking towards Emily’s door.
“How are you?” He asked.
“Tired and cramped and you?”
“Super thanks for asking.” Oh Jesus… We went up to the door and rang the bell. Emily came opened the door with her PJs on.
“Hey Vincent. Why are you’re here?”
“Thought I spend the morning if that was ok.” I said.
“It’s no problem. You look terrible you didn’t you get any sleep last night.”
“Yes…” I said. Hiding my true feelings.
“Claude!” Emily hugged him and he kissed her on both cheeks.
“How are you?” Emily asked.
“Extraordinary! Thanks for asking.” Claude smiled at her then me.
“Come in.” She said. We followed her to her room.
We sat in her room for in hour talking.
“What are your plans today Vinny?” She asked.
“I’m going to hang out with Griffin and Sly at 12 then going to get our hair cut. Then getting our tuxes.” I said.
“Sounds fun.”
“Aw jeez. Look at the hair honey. I hope you were planning to get it done today.”
“I was.” Claude said.
“Well we need like a bulldozer to go over that bed head. We’re going to the salon to get a perm. We’re going to make you hot. I mean hotter.” I swung around in the spiny chair in her room and chuckled.
“I think she looks hot ether way.”
“Now Vincent. Who has the fashion sense here? You or me? That would be me Vinny poo.” I opened my eyes wide and chair stopped spinning. My mouth grew. Wide. “Ok get dressed. Then we will go.” We vacated the room. Claude and I talked to her parent’s while Emily was getting ready. When she came down the stairs. We went out side.
“OH wait I got a call.” Claude said. “Aww It’s John Paul. He gave the one moment and turned around. “John Paul so nice of you to call me. Yes we are still on for tonight… Why wouldn’t we? NO! I don’t know a Patrick. You ask me like every time you call. Why would never do anything like that to you… It would be terrible without you John Paul… Aww… OH! Don’t talk like that John Paul I got company…” I looked at Emily. He turned around and put up the one moment sign again. “You remember when you when away I cried every night.” I rolled my eyes. Claude was gay version of Sly. “Oh jeez John Paul you’re making me silly just thinking about you… All right honey… Talk to you later. Love ya. Mawh.”
“Ok Emi I will see you later.” I kissed her and walked to my car. I got and thought nothing can stop me now. I drove to Griffin’s house. I didn’t want to disturb Sly this early. I knocked on his door. His mom answered and unlocked the door.
“Hello Vincent.” She said with a smile. “Griffin is in the family room.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Hamell.” I found him in the family room on the computer.
“Yo. Vincent. You don’t look good.”
“Yeah. I had a argument with my mom and her boyfriend so I slept in my car outside of Emily’s last night.”
“You haven’t been home since?” I shook my head. “Well come on you can take a shower here. You can crash here for now.” I thanked him and I went up and took a shower and then got one of his polo shirts. He had a lot of clothes. I took a pair of his Cargo Khakis. They were a little too big for me but eh had an extra belt. Got socks too. He even gave me a toothbrush so I got all good and came down stairs.
“Looking good. It’s 11 lets got to Joseph’s.” We took Griffin’s Acclaim. It was like a cheap version of a BMW. We got there at 12:30. Sly was on his lawn practicing his golf swings.
“Four! OH shit!” The golf ball came flying towards Griffin’s door.
“Oh shit.” Griffin said.
Daunt! The golf ball went right into the driver’s side door. Leaving a dent. Griffin shook his head and looked at his cousin.
Just then Sly’s phone rang. “One second.” He took out his phone. “Buenos Dias… No it’s me, Jane… What’s up? No you didn’t… You did… Sounds hot… can’t wait… Can I touch them? Oooh sounds like a party! Talk to you later.” He smiled. Did some pelvic thrusts. “To the Beemer.” He threw down his clubs.
“Shotgun!” I yelled. Griffin and I ran for the door. But I got it first. “You know Sly if I wasn’t taking Emily to the prom. I’d probally take your sister.” He looked at me.
“Shut the fuck up.” Griffin laughed in the back.
“Hair then, then my house to freshen up. Alright boys I got you all presents.”
“You did? I didn’t get you anything… Wait here.” Griffin gave Sly a stick of gum.
“Thanks… Here Vin. This is a condom. It’s used…”
“Fuck you.”
“No not for that.”
“No I know what is used for asshole.” Then he handed one to Griffin.
“Yo can I get two.” Griffin said.
“Why?” Sly said.
“I wanna make a balloon.”
“You can be such a kid sometimes.” Sly said.
“Dude what size is this?”
“Medium.”
“Dude so the myth has be disproved.” Griffin said.
“Oh that one.” I said.
“No it’s still true.” He pulled out the extra large box out of his pocket.
“Dude it runs in the family give it to me.” Griffin said. Griffin put his arms over the seat to grab the box.
“Watch it!!!” Sly yelled. It was finally here. Today was gonna be good. Just a few more hours more till prom. Happiness filled me. I was in ecstasy. Soon very soon.
Warning: I hope I didn’t harm any gay men in the making of this.
It was 10’o clock in the morning, the day of the prom. I didn’t know what time it was. I ran my hand down my face and just dozed. Suddenly I heard a knock at my window.

Sugar Coating With Scars #6: “Last Out”
It was Friday, May 13, 2005. It was a day before the prom and I was all ready to go. I was extremely excited. It was mid afternoon and I was a Sly’s house as usual. Emily and I sat on the couch cuddling and watching the T.V. Griffin was reclining in the recliner. We were watching. Eurotrip. We were laughing away when Sly ran in.
“I, Sly, will return to the land of my perverted forefathers and claim my birthright, which is a series of erotic and sexually challenging adventures." Then Sly ran up stairs. Emily, Griffin and I all looked at each other. Then we heard him coming down stairs and he looked at us and said,
“Peace out motherfuckers.” Then he ran outside the door and started his car.
“I think your friend is on Sly drugs.” Emily said.
“That’s my cousin for ya.” Griffin said while watching the movie. Then Griff and I laughed and Emily giggled.
“Who are you bringing to prom, Griff?” I asked.
“Jenny Taper.” Griffin said transfixed onto the T.V. screen. “Oh dear god a male nude beach.” Griffin turned around in the recliner. He looked awkward. Emily put her hand over my eyes.
“Oh my god. Old guys.” She took her hand away from my eyes and hid under a pillow and I dived on top of Emily. We laughed for a while. Then the movie ended. Griffin put down the chair and stood up.
“Awooooo.” He yawned and stretched. The phone rang. Griffin went to get it.
“So we are riding who tomorrow?”
“Griffin and Jenny. You will meet her tomorrow.” She nodded. “Sly and Jane.”
“Your serious? Sly isn’t taking like 5 girls?”
“Erm well that’s the funny part. He just told Jane he was bringing her. He didn’t tell the other girls anything. So they could just show up. Find Sly there and that would be bad news.”
“Oh I see.” Emily said.
“We’re gonna be in the Limo too.”
“I figured that.” Emily smiled. Griffin walked in, yawning and scratching his head.
“Eum…” He finished yawning. “That was Sly he says don’t expect him back. He’s at Maria’s.”
“Wow.” Emily said.
“Well I guess we’ll be going.” I said. Emily and I stood up and said goodbye to Griff who laid down on the couch.
I got the door for Emily and I got into the drivers side. We talked on the way to getting to her house. I dropped her off and we kissed. I liked those slow moments. Then I drove to my house. I walked in. Edward was there with my mom at the kitchen table.
“Hi, Vincent.” She said.
“Hi Mom.” I said.
“Hey.” Edward said.
“What’s up?” I asked.
“Well we need to talk to you. So sit down.” I sat down next to my mom.
“Well, son.” Edward started. I started making my eyes wide. Mom put his hand up like to stop Edward.
“Well…” My mom was being to say something that I knew was coming so I cut her off.
“Do whatever the fuck you want. Once I graduate I’m out of here. I probally won’t be coming back. So do it. Get married to this asshole example of a man.” I pushed the chair away and walked out to my car and opened the door, got in and drove fast. I about driving off a cliff but I didn’t want to burden Emily with my death. I was in love. With her. For once I have someone who understands me. I was so full of emotion. Fuck Edward. I hate my mom. I drove to Emily’s house but I couldn’t get out. I cried I hit my interior. I struggled with my soul. Then I sunk my head in my hands. I can’t lose the one thing I love. Nothing can take it away from me. But was left for me. My friends and my love if that accounted for a life… I’m hopeless. I needed something to believe in. This was my last out. So I layed in my car for about 2 hours and suddenly drifted to sleep. I wont let anyone take my prom away from me. No One. I won't let my feelings burden me. No more...

Sugar Coating With Scars #5: “Love Burns”

music: Dungen
It was really early Sunday morning like 5am. I heard something. I thought it was mom coming home. So I got up and walked from the room. I heard quiet commotion coming from the downstairs. It was men. So it isn’t my mom I thought to myself. They we’re nearing the stairs. I slipped into the guest room quietly. They were coming up the stairs. I moved into the closet. It was cold this morning I forgot to put the heat on. Can’t think about that now. I heard them get to the top step and move into my room.
“No ones here, Jeff.” Jeff and someone else! They are here to settle the score. “Stupid for leaving the house open. Let’s check the rest of the house. They walked into the guest bedroom where I was. “Hmm… Must’ve gone someplace.” They left the room. Shoo… That was close. They were still upstairs. I heard them go into my mom’s room. “No one. Dammit! Let’s go.”
“Ya fuck this. I get that bitch one of these days. I’ll drive Ken.” Dammit it was his brother. I wouldn’t stand a chance in these odds. Considering they are both on Varsity sports. I heard them go back out the screen door. Dammit that was close. I sunk down to my knees. Crap, that was really close. I got out of the closet and went to make sure they were gone. I heard the car start and go. I ran to the bathroom and took a shower quickly then put some clothes on. Grabbed my keys and left a note for my mom. I hopped into my car. I thought of one place I could chill for a while where the odds were better, Sly’s.
It took me fifteen minutes to get there. I pulled into the driveway. I knocked on the door. Griffin came to it and opened it.
“Sup bro?” Surprising he was awake then I remember he doesn’t sleep much.
“Not much. Jeff and Ken were at myself. I kept myself hidden though.”
“Damn.”
“I’d fight just Jeff if he was alone but it was him and his brother I wouldn’t stand a chance.”
“Come in man.” Griffin said.
“Sorry to bother you Griff.” I said looking down.
“No problem Vin. I’ve been up for an hour so playing World of Warcraft. Ready for today?”
“Yeah. I wouldn’t miss it not even for Jeff and Ken.”
“That’s what I like to hear.” He said. He walked to the couch and hopped down. I walked over and sat down on the couch too. “Sly usually gets up at seven. We got a little wait. Time passed watching early morning T.V. When seven came around we could hear the water running upstairs. “He’s up.” Griff had his usual polo and khakis on. He was always ready to go. Fifteen minutes late Sly came down stairs.
“Vin what’s up?”
“Jeff and Ken broke into my house looking for me.”
“Where were you?” He asked.
“In the Closest.” I said.
“Oh. Damn. Well that shouldn’t spoil are fun tonight boys.”
“Nope.” I said. He patted me on the shoulder. Then Griff put his hand up and Sly gave him a handshake. Then sly went into the kitchen singing Sinatra.
“Who wants food?” Sly asked.
“Give me some fuckin’ toast bitch.” Griff yelled. Sly was good at what he cooked. Which was very little
“Get it yourself bitch.” Sly yelled back. Griff jumped up from the couch and skipped into the kitchen. “What about you Vin?”
“Um toast with jelly man.” I said.
“No problem.”
“Won’t get it for your own cousin I see but for your best friend. Jeez.” Griffin said sarcastically. 10 minutes later Sly handed me the toast. Wasn’t burnt thankfully. He gave me some orange juice.
“How’s your sister?” I asked smiling.
“Alexandra is good. Why…”
“Sounds like a sister joke.” Griff said laughing.
“Shut up.” Sly slapped Griffin aside of the head. He sat down on the recliner eating cold pizza. “Wait till I wake up Griff. I’ll make your life a living hell.”
“Bring it boy.” He started eating his toast.
“Alright I’m bring Jane with us.” Sly said.
“What happened to the other chick? Maria or something?” Griff asked.
“Um nothing… I just think Jane probally knows how to get down better.”
“Ah...” Griffin said. “What happened to those two chicks you called me about yesterday? Since they left before I got here. They found out your lacking in a special are?”
“NO! Who the fuck ever told you that? They call me the Italian Stallion.” Sly jumped up and made a pose. “They just left early. They something about drivers Ed or something.”
“Oh! The old Drivers Ed trick eh.” Griffin nudged me as he said it. “Code name he wasn’t good.”
“Fuck you.” Sly pointed at Griffin.
“You may have the eye, Sly. But I got the brain.” Griffin said and pointed to Sly.
“Yeah whatever.” Sly stretched. The door slammed and we all looked to the door.
“Buon giorno. Come Va?” Griffin said and waved to Alexandra. She looked hot in her nurse suit. It was kinky and I liked it.
“Hello sister. How was work?” Sly asked.
“Hello Vincent.” She said in a sweet but tired voice. “Hi Griff. Hi Joseph.” Then she went up stairs.
“Oooh you’re not special. Vin was #1.”
“You know Sly your sister is pretty hot.” I broke in.
“Watch it!” Sly said. Sly’s cell rang and he picked up. “Hello, Jane.” He put his hand over the phone. “It’s Jane.” As he pointed to the phone Sly did some pelvic thrusts. Then he put his ear back on the phone. “Hi babe.”
Griffin looked at me and then looked to Sly. “I kinda gathered.” Griffin got of the couch and did some spanking moves. Sly just waved his hand away like to piss off.
“So Jane ready for tonight? Yeah me too… What you wearing? Short skirt and booties? Hot… Can’t wait baby…Oh being without you is terrible you know that.”
Fourth time I thought. So there it was. The impending fun was coming. So we sat back. For a wild night was pre ordained.
It was 6:00. Griffin and I piled into Sly’s car.
“Buckle your seat belts its fun time.” Sly said as he looked at Griffin and I. Then he stepped on the gas and we flew. Down 87 and we finally got to Albany. It was 6:30 by now and it was a little chilly and wet since it sprinkled a little today. We we’re all dressed our best and we got in line. At 7 they began letting us in. So we steadily got to the front. Griffin walked through the metal detector first. But it was weird some random chick let a bunch of guys in with out going through the detectors.
So I asked one of the security guys, “So I just walk through?”
“No you do a cartwheel through. Ya you walk through.”
“Don’t mind him Sly said. He’s a newbie.” Sly said.
“Shut your trap.” One of the security guys said. So I walked through and one of the security guys pushed me against the wall with a lot of force. My cheek went into the cold concrete. Then he said, “Your good.” Then I walked in. When I walked in Griffin was nowhere to be found. I waited for Sly but I couldn’t see him. So I shrugged and paid admission. I stepped in. The music was pumping and the flashing lights shredded the scene. Time to go to work I thought. I sat at the bar. Give me Tequila I thought. The bar mistress as Sly liked to call her, came up to me.
“What you want?” She asked.
“Te- Water please.” I said. “Thanks.” Then I drank and through the bottle I could see masses of people dancing having fun and I was sitting here with the wallflowers. Screw that I thought. I put my water down and got up. Walked over to the wall overlooking all the people dancing. Tons. I cracked my neck. Might as well think like Griffin and work like Sly. I thought for a moment. Then looked to my right. There was a girl just standing there leaning against the small wall with her hand supporting her head. She looked lonely. Like me. She was extremely cute. She had short strawberry blonde hair. She was wearing a short skirt like most of the other girls and nice tight shirt. Then I caught myself staring then I looked forward. I exhaled. Then I caught her looking at me. Dammit she must think I am weird. But she wasn’t moving away. She did just the opposite. She got closer. We were very close now.
“Hi.” She said.
“Um Hi.” I said stunned.
“Oh you want to be left alone?” She said with a frown.
“No. Just surprised you’d talk to me.” I said.
“Why’s that. I don’t know. I am sorta a loner.”
“Aw. Don’t me too hard on your self.” She fluttered her eyes. I cracked a smile. “Hey I got you to smile.”
“Yeah you did. Why aren’t you dancing?”
“I’ve been waiting for the right guy. I’ve been asked already a lot… But.” She grabbed my hand lets dance. Before I could say thing she was right against me. Grinding.
“Wait what is your name?” I yelled since the music was so loud.
“It’s Emily. What’s yours?”
“Vin… Vincent.” I was comfortable using my full and proper name with her.
“Wow. Vincent is a hot name. Your in trouble though.” I widened my eyes and looked around for Jeff. “I’m a crazy girl. I won’t let you off this dance floor.”
“Well that’s fine with me.” I smiled. Then I felt someone bump into the back of me. It was Sly he was dancing with Jane. She had black hair wearing a blue dress. Getting really into the dance.
“VIN!!!!! WHOOOO!!!!! You found a looker.” He looked down at Emily who was about 5’8. I was 6’2. “How you doing?” He asked. I glared at him and she rolled her eyes.
She leaned in to my ear. “Your friend is one of those guys?”
“Yeah he is one of those. He has like 5 girlfriends.” Emily started laughing. We danced for a while. Letting my cares fly. We rotated a bit now I was facing the stairs. Then I saw him and he spotted me. It was Jeff. He was with Erika. He left her and started walking towards me. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Griffin with a girl walking with him. He whispered something to her. Then started Walking towards Jeff. He gave me a salute. He walked in front of Jeff. What was he doing? They were obviously arguing. He’s going to get himself thrown out. Jeff pushed Griffin but he didn’t move. Jeff swung, Griffin brought his fist up like he was holding a coffee cup to the side of Jeff’s head and he was down. He motioned to the girl as the security was coming towards him. The girl followed and he smiled to me. Jeff got up raised him self a little and Erika knelt down along side of him. He was holding his head. Griffin got dragged out with the girl behind him. Jeff got picked up and need help walking. I was glad Griffin was a martial artist otherwise that could’ve been more bloody. But he did that for me. Wow. Emily didn’t see it though. I was thankful. I smiled and she looked up at me and smiled. Then something happened that I had experience in a long time. A year. Emily kissed me on the lips hard. Her tongue touched mine. We stopped dancing and just started making out. And she pushed me up against the wall. She was a feisty one. I could hear Sly whooping in the background. Probally for me. I wasn’t sure. My eyes were closed then open. All I could think about was her. Finally… something clicked and I lost myself. We we’re ravenously making out there on the dance floor. I lost all feeling. Maybe minutes went by but it felt like an eternity. She pulled away. Smiling. She was a happy girl. She grasped my hand and led me out of the place. Hand and hand. Not one. Two. Two hearts combined. Was it love or the idea of being in love? I hoped it was love. Emily. What a beautiful name...

Sugar Coating With Scars #4: “Hmm? A what?”
It was Saturday the 18 of March. A whole week went by once again to fast. I played it low in school for the whole week. I made sure I stayed away from Jeff at all costs. I’m not scared but I don’t want to fight. I just don’t feel like it. Friday went and gone. Sly, Griffin and I went to Venezia’s for pizza that night and sat around and talked about Sunday. They had their heart set on finding a good girl for me. I was somewhat thankful. With Sly’s eye and Griff’s brain they hopefully will pick out a winner. I hoped. I’ve been laying in my bed for the past hour. My room was cluttered with clothes and magazines tossed about on the floor. My sheets were off meaning that I did a lot of moving the night before. I looked at my alarm clock. The red digital numbers read 12:30pm. God I sleep a lot. I ran my hand down my face to wipe the sleep from me. I leaned up and put my self over the side of the bed. Looking down I moved my toes. I remembered my mom wasn’t happy when she saw my face with a bruise on it. She asked me what happened I told her I fell. I didn’t want to get her involved nor would she really. She wasn’t really interested. She wasn’t interested in anything since my dad left. I popped my neck and walked out into the hall. It was quiet today my mom wasn’t watching the T.V. she must’ve went out. I walked into the shower the water was first warm and then straight to cold.
“Oh Shit.” I yelled. I tried to stay out of the direct spray and made the wash off quick. I got out and dried off. I put some jeans, socks, and a T-shirt on and went down stairs. Sure enough my mom left a note. I read,
Hi Vincent,
I went out with Edward today. Don’t expect me back tonight.
Food is in the refrigerator. Don’t have too much fun.
Love,
Mom
I felt like Napoleon and said, “Idiot.” I hated Edward. The guy was trash. I told my mom that and she didn’t like it. She told me that she didn’t pick my girls so I couldn’t pick her guys. I sat on the kitchen table and shook my head. I opened the frig.
“IDIOT!” She forgot to check. Bread and milk! Maybe she did it on purpose to get me out of the house. I grabbed my keys and pulled my shoes on and ran out of the house. I got into my green Saturn and drove to Starbuck. It was nicely between Hannaford and “My Mall”. I pulled into the parking lot and walked in. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted some brown curly hair behind a newspaper. Probally Griff. I got some coffee and a muffin and sat down. Behind the newspaper I hear,
“How goes it Vincent.” He was reading the business section he loved that section.
“Not too bad. What kind of coffee you get?” I asked.
“You kiddin’? I hate coffee. I got some hot chocolate. It’s the best here. Better than Borders.” He said still behind the newspaper. I wasn’t sure if he was talking to the newspaper or me.
“Oh. Ready for tomorrow?”
He closed the newspaper. “Hell yes. Better bring your dancing shoes. There’s gonna be a lot of it.” He smiled and gave salute with his cup. Sometimes I thought he was unstable he was always happy sometimes too happy. Must run in his family seeing that Sly is his cousin. “Ever get that Jeff thing straightened out?”
“Nah haven’t seen him.”
“Oh that’s good. Maybe he’ll forget about it.”
“I hope so. I’m not much for fighting.”
“Nor am I but you were doing pretty good I hear.”
“I was flaying like the kid from the Christmas story. It doesn’t take much skill to do that.”
“Least you kept him down.” Griffin said. His cell rang his ring town was “Another Brick In The Wall” by Pink Floyd. He pulled it out of his cargo pocket. “Hello… Sup… No just chilling with Vincent… No, Joseph… I’m not going to do that. It’s like 12:50… Oh ya and I forgot that is wrong… I don’t care if they are hot… No and that’s final… Send one over here then… No to that… Jesus… Her? Dude know how many guys she’s been with… Don’t do you… Well it’s a lot… No I will not take her… Not even for that… All right I’ll talk to you tomorrow. All right… All right… Peace.
“What did Sly want?” I asked.
“Um… He wanted me to help him in a quadruple entente… of sorts…”
“A triple entente?” Did I really want to know?
“He just met to chicks while working. He’s skipping work to go back to his pad and yeah… you know…” He said while looking around.
“He wanted you to help him out in a foursome, right?”
“SHHH! Yes. Though I love my cousin in a cousinly way. That’s one thing I wont help out with. Plus one of the girls is sluty. Don’t want to touch that. Remember this Vincent. Don’t ever get in a three or foursome. Every time the guy makes her moan. He’ll want a high five. He’ll be like, ‘Take that bitch. Get ‘er done.’ That’s just no mans land. Stay away from that. I don’t find anything wrong with lesbian sisters though. They can come to my house anytime.” Bunches of people are staring at him at this time. I’m cracking up. “What? I’m educating the guy. You don’t give me that look.” I was laughing even harder. He then kicked the table hard into me and a started coughing and laughing. “See I get carried away sometime. Talking about this and that. But they are words to live by my fair friend.”
The day went by pretty humorlessly. Griff and I hanged out for most of the days cracking jokes and stuff. The kid was smart. Maybe he was a little too smart. Ether way it was cool. After that I went back to my house. I hate some bread and milk for dinner since I wasn’t a big eater. Watched T.V. for a few hours then went upstairs. Climbed in to bed. I was thinking about tomorrow. Who I would meet and what would happen. It was going to be good. I’m sure now. So before I fell asleep. I practice my one special line.
“How you doin'?” I said it with that Italian accent. Then I drifted off. Good dreams and good days were coming.
